Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in labor and delivery nursing
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor the condition of expectant mothers and fetuses during labor and delivery
- Administer medications and assist with medical procedures as needed
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Provide emotional support and education to expectant mothers and their families
- Monitor and record vital signs, fetal heart rates, and contractions
- Assist with the management of high-risk pregnancies and emergencies
- Prepare patients for labor and delivery and assist with the birthing process
- Care for newborns, including performing initial assessments, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with breastfeeding
- Ensure a safe and sterile environment in the labor and delivery unit
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Stay current with best practices and advancements in labor and delivery nursing
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Working Hours
36 hrs, 12 hr days, 7a-7:30p
