Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a sommelier at a fine dining/high volume restaurant
- Wine Certification from an accredited wine institution preferred
- Excellent beverage knowledge- including beer, wine and spirits
- Excellent understanding of beverage inventory and cost management
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Team-oriented and a motivator to the FOH staff
Responsibilities
- Supervising wine serving
- Collaborating with winemakers to upgrade selections
- Providing wine recommendations to guests
- Creating and updating wine lists with the chefs and manager
- Making recommendations on food and wine pairings
- Ensuring that the wine cellar is fully stocked
- Informing guests on the variety of wines available
- Training wait staff on available wines
- Negotiating prices with vendors
- Organizing wine tasting events
- Complying with health and safety regulations
